• Lake Yliki - Hosios Loukas - Livadia
The monastery of Hosios Loukas, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list is located on Mount Helicon, near Steiri village, at an altitude of 430 meters.
The monastery is surrounded by olive groves and the environment is natural and unspoilt. It was founded by St. Louke himself, during the last years of his life where he was practicing asceticism, after having wandered around Greece, hunted by the Bulgarians. He settled in the monastery in the year 946, where he died after seven years. He was much loved and had the gift of prophesy, as well as healing abilities. The saint was buried in the floor of his cell and in the year 955, monks built a cruciform shaped building around the grave, as well as the first cells of the community.
