  • Corinth canal-Nemea Wine roads
 
Nemea is a region of Peloponnese, famous for its production of various kinds of wines since Ancient times.
We start our tour, driving on the Athens - Corinth National Road, having on our left the Saronic Gulf and the island of Salamis, where in 480 BC the famous battle of Salamis took place.
 
After about an hour, we make our first stop at the Corinth Canal. There, we will admire and take pictures of the magnificent Canal, which connects the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf ( pict 1 ).
 
Then we head southwest and pass through picturesque villages and fields of grape and olive oil trees.
When we get to Nemea, we start from the archaeological site, where we will see the Temple of Zeus and the famous Baths which are in very good condition ( pict 2, 3, 4, 5 , 6 ). The site operates an archaeological museum of great interest ( pict 7, 8 ).
 
Finally, you will see the Ancient Stadium ( pict 9, 10 ).
After the archaeological site, our visit to the wine roads and wineries comes next. Once you try the local wines, we take the road back.

  • CORINTH & NEMEA WINE ROADS FULL DAY TOUR

After about an hour, we make our first stop at the Corinth Canal. There, we will admire and take pictures of the magnificent Canal, which connects the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf ( pict 1 ).
 
A little further away, we will find the city of Ancient Corinth, the richest in Ancient Greece, and the only one that had two ports.
At the archaeological site, you will see the Temple of Apollo, the Pirene and Glafki fountains,  (the Ancient Agora and the location called “Vima” (Step) where the Apostle Paul was led to be tried by the Roman Proconsul Gallio, who refused to prosecute him ( pict 2, 3, 4, 5 ).
 
You will also see the Roman Odeon ( pict 6 )  and the Ancient Theatre ( pict 7 ) . The museum is situated in the same location ( pict 8 ).
Of course, we will continue our drive to the Acrocorinth rock, where the fortress by the same name stands at an altitude of 575 meters above the ancient city. There, we will make a brief stop and take pictures ( pict 9 ).
 
Leaving behind the fortress, we travel to Nemea, passing through picturesque villages and fields of olive oil trees and grapes. A stop for lunch and some wine in a traditional Greek tavern will relax you!
 
Then, we visit the archaeological site of Nemea, where the Temple of Zeus dominates ( pict 10 ). The  Ancient Baths are also in good condition ( pict 11, 12 ). We will also see the Stadium ( pict 13, 14, 15 ), as well as the very interesting museum which houses a great collection of old coins.
 
Our visit to the wineries of the region and tasting of the red Agiorgitiko Nemea wine is considered to be absolutely essential!
This completes our tour and we take the way back.
