The half day shore excursion in Athens is designed for those cruise travelers who have limited time available. The tour includes Acropolis, and the must see of Athens.
Description
After we meet outside your cruise ship, we will pass through the city of Piraeus. Through the coast road, we shall enjoy the spectacular view and make stops for the first pictures.
Our next stop is the famous Acropolis.
During your visit, you will admire the Propylaea, the Erechtheion the Temple of Athena Nike and the imposing temple of Parthenon. Also, the theater of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. We then move on to the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian.
We continue our half day shore excursion with the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games in 1896 were held. Then, comes a must: our drive to the highest point of the city, the Lycabettus Hill which is the best point to admire the view and take spectacular panoramic pictures.
We continue with small stops for photographs at the old Royal Palace, the Zappeion Hall and the buildings of the Academy, the University, the National Library and the Old Parliament.
At exactly the right time, we will be in front of the parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where we will watch the Change of the Presidential Guard. Still, some time will remain to us for a little walk in the old city (Plaka) with its picturesque streets, where you will entertain yourselves and shop.
We finish our excursion by going back to the cruise ship.
