Corinth-Cave of Lakes-Arcadia–Nafplion–Myceane 3 Day tour
Delight in the Corinth canal, take a marvelous train ride from Diakopto to Kalavryta village through the Vouraikos gorge and visit the Cave of Lakes. Discover the traditional picturesque villages of the Peloponnese, Vytina, Lagadia, Karytaina in Arcadia and visit the open-air Waterpower Museum in Dimitsana. Relish and walk the old city of Nafplion and visit the archaeological sites and museums of Myceane and Ancient Corinth.
Description
Day 1
The first stop of our 3 - day alternative Peloponnese tour is at the Corinth canal where you will admire the Canal which connects the Saronic Gulf with the Corinthian Gulf. After this stop and about one hour later, we will reach the village Diakopto where you board at the small train Odontotos. The train ride takes place inside the Vouraikos Gulf. The train passes over bridges, through tunnels, beside waterfalls, and ends at Kalavryta village where you will meet your driver again. You will walk the village and have lunch at a local restaurant.
We will continue our alternative tour driving through a dense forest of cypresses and firs towards the impressive Cave of Lakes. After you visit the impressive Cave of Lakes, we will drive south towards the area of Arcadia. We will stop at the beautiful village Vytina where you can see the beautiful square with the church of Saint Tryfon and you can walk the small grove of Vytina . We will continue towards the village of Lagadia where we will check in at our hotel. You can walk the narrow alleys in this traditional village and buy local products if you wish before you enjoy your dinner admiring the sunset.
Day 2
We will spend the second day of our alternative Peloponnese tour touring the picturesque traditional villages of Arcadia. You will have the opportunity to walk the narrow stone alleys in Dimitsana, admire historical buildings and visit the Open Air Hydrokinesis (waterpower) museum.
Our next stop is at the village of Stemnitsa , another traditional picturesque village of Arcadia, where you will have the opportunity to hike at the highest spot ( which used to be a castle ) and take wonderful photos .
We will continue towards the village Karytaina where you will have lunch, you can explore the small narrow pedestrians and you will hike towards the old castle from where the scenery is really breathtaking.
Leaving Karytaina and after 1,5 hours we will arrive at Nafplion, the first official capital of Greece after the Greek Liberation. We will check in at our hotel and you will have free time to walk the pedestrians of the old traditional town and admire the old historical buildings as well as the Syntagma square.

Day 3
We will start the third day of our alternative Peloponnese tour heading northeast towards Mycenae, the Kingdom of King Agamemnon. You will visit the Acropolis of Mycenae, the beautiful museum, and the tomb of Agamemnon.
After your visit, we will head towards the city of Ancient Corinth, maybe the richest in ancient times, the city where Apostle Paul lived and taught for 18 months. You will visit the archaeological site where you will admire the Temple of Apollo, the Pirene fountain, the Ancient Agora, the Roman Odeon, and the location called Vima or Step. This is the place where Apostle Paul was led to be tried by the Roman Proconsul Gallio, who refused to prosecute him. The museum is situated at the same location.
Over the Ancient Corinth at an altitude of 575 meters we will meet the fortress of Acrocorinth and you will have the opportunity to visit it if you wish. From this location the view is breathtaking so you will take a lot of photos as well.
After the fortress of Acrocorinth, we will take the way back to Athens to conclude our 3 - day alternative tour.
